An Artist’s Start

40 pieces, 13 shows, 8 galleries/local shops, 4 sales, and 1 special edition design. This year I achieved a major personal goal of showing artwork in physical spaces for the first time.

There was a time in my life when I thought I would have to give up painting because it didn’t directly serve my professional goals in any way, but this year I learned pursuing professional goals and personal passions is something that can be done in parallel. I have learned so much about this exciting world; from applications, artist statements, framing, hanging, art handling, gallery set up, new mediums, applying to projects on a whim, working through rejection, and more. These skills are invaluable and I can’t wait to continue growing over time.

Success is measured through more than climbing a ladder. It’s about exploring, learning, and growing. It’s about building community. And thank you to all the people who have shown me support, old friends and new. It can’t even begin to explain how incredible it is to see my work in peoples homes and in the hands of strangers around town on tote bags. Special thank you to all the places who took a chance on a newbie artist like myself. Each of these places prioritize making space for their respective communities and they have all welcomed me with open arms. I highly recommend supporting these spaces through participation and financial donations:

To all the people to bought and/or displayed my work – thank you:
