This piece expands on the harvest process, depicting a woman hitting dries rice stalks against a wooden bench. Farmers thresh their rice stalks by hitting them against hard surfaces to release the grains. They often do this on metal barrels turned on their side or structures made of pieces of wood nailed together. These will be places on plastic tarps to capture the loose grains. I like to think this process would be both a literal and emotional release of sorts. A way to get your emotions out through an extremely active process. Imaging having an annual event to let…
